Sky Scaffolding (Midlands) Limited has recently completed the erection of a comprehensive scaffold structure around the Grade I listed Croome Court in High Green, Worcestershire, to allow for major refurbishment. The scaffold structure has been installed around the building to provide access for a range of specialist trades, particularly at roof level.
The scaffold covers all four elevations of the building to it’s full 12.5m height, with four additional turret platforms to a height of 16m, to allow stonework, roofing, and lead restoration.
Not wanting to hinder visitor enjoyment of this stately home, our client wanted this scaffolding to incorporate a public viewing gallery and ‘Sky Café’, providing visitors with close-up access to the on-going restoration work.
Layher Allround modular scaffolding system was selected as the best solution for the working scaffolding and the ‘Sky Café’ viewing area. The system’s ability to provide clear decking, with the absence of cross bracing was an important consideration as was it’s ability to adapt and provide a public access stair.
Kentledge was used at key points around the scaffold to avoid the use of standard ties on the historic building, and gantry access points were provided using Layher beams.
